You're So Warm (Where You Are Not)

When I remember you 

It is in that box, with that wild curtain 

Which was just one large tapestry sheet 

I know you are not there 

But when I remember you it is always there

Next to the cemetery 

When I remember you, I remember me 

I remember my time without you 

And I remember talking for hours 

In a little taco place, downtown 

Drank a lot of fancy grapefruit drinks 

And congratulated a man on his marriage 

If I moved, I would move there

Not for you, but more so for those grapefruit drinks 

I want to wander drunk still 

Midday, past the climbing place 

But I remember your friends 

And I don't like them much

They were uninviting, cold 

Which was odd to me (you're so warm) 

But reminded me of high school 

I am only so much 

So when you move, somewhere else 

It is inevitable 

I will move there to fill the space where you are not

I will move in there to live 

To live at least a little.
