A Review: Morrison Died and Now What?

Morrison died and now what? Release a song about a mosquito.

Sung in Spanish by Robby Kreiger, the song floats lazily, giving sound to the feeling of a warm summer down south. Kreiger, influenced heavily by Mariachi wrote "The Mosquito" after hearing three musicians play for him on vacation in Mexico, and thus wrote the band's last single to chart. Because of its multilingual lyrics, the song did fairly well across the world and both Latin and European listeners found the tune wildly appealing.

Perhaps the best thing, aside from the simple lyrics about a mosquito pestering a man who only wants to eat his burrito, is the vibrant guitar and organ solos between each verse. Lyrically, the song is lacking, but this is irrelevant, as the musicianship is clearly the focal point. Reminiscent of the seventies, the song is loose, free flowing, and boundary breaking. Hip swaying and swatting are encouraged.

Though the artistry and killer vocals of Jim Morrison could never be replaced, The Doors still rocked, rolled, and bugged out.
