Owl Eyes
In the low light, beneath the owl eyes
Amongst the giants, you wrapped your arms around my waist
And moved me, like a wedding dance
And I was damp with sin and drunkenness
And we were lost, they had been calling
And I was hours deep in love, caught in between the strings
You lay next to me, shoes on the bed
And I held you sideways, and laughed
And you cried every time I was happy
Perhaps, you were miserable
And my own selfishness refused to see it
But I pretended to be fucked
And I rolled over, one foot off the side
Said, goodnight
But I was up all night, sobered by your miserableness
After underneath the twelve o'clock heat
I had found a man I would have married.
